View Tube Art: Sparked 2011-12
Inspired by the public art pieces in the London 2012 Olympic Park, Sparked is an eight-month educational exhibition series as part of the View Tube Art Education programme, from October 2011-May 2012.
The View Tube sits on The Greenway in East London, next to the London 2012 Olympic Park, it is a community arts and education venue, with a cafe and bike hire.
Sparked is funded by The Legacy List, a new charity established to support the long term cultural, social and physical regeneration of London’s future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its surroundings.

Inspired by the public art pieces in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Park, Sparked is an eight-month educational exhibition series as part of the View Tube Art Education programme, running from October 2011-May 2012, and aims to engage the public with the public art pieces commissioned for Olympic park.
Over the next eight months, three 6-8 week exhibitions will take place, inspired by various art pieces in the Olympic Park. Running alongside these, will be educational activities for any young person visiting the View Tube, as well as family days teaching new art skills inspired by the exhibitions focus.
The View Tube is a social enterprise and community venue located in East London onThe Greenway adjacent to the London 2012 Olympic Park. Open all year round, 7 days a week from 9am-5pm, it offers incredible views of the park to the general public, and also houses a cafe, education, arts, community garden, information spaces and bike hire.
It was built using recycled shipping containers whose construction and installation was delivered by Urban Space Management. The View Tube is a partnership project between Leaside Regeneration, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, the Olympic Delivery Authority and Thames Water.
The View Tube Art programme attracts local, national and international artists to express their reactions to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and has exhibited works from such artists and organisations as Gavin Turk/Ben Wilson, The National Portrait Gallery, Faisal Abdu’Allah and Lisa Cheung.
